Our Patient Promise
Integral Psychiatry and Wellness is committed to empowering clients to develop goals and treatment plans in partnership with their providers. Meaningful engagement in their health, wellness or healing process provides them with the foundation and skills for sustainable results, improved personal potential and quality of life. We believe that every client has this ability when provided the opportunity and experienced guidance to do so.
The Story of Integral Psychiatry & Wellness

Modern healthcare delivery is imperfect. Most healthcare providers operate within the scope of their expertise and with limited  input on how problems or concerns other than the presenting problem are connected to getting the outcomes desired. It is difficult in most settings for them to collaborate with other specialists and coordinate care for optimal results, despite best attempts. Integral Psychiatry and Wellness was designed with the guiding philosophy of providing whole-human care within a practice that understands that all the parts (internal to a client as well as external) are integral to mind-body health and true wellness.

My Professional Story

I have been a licensed professional in healthcare since 1996, initially as a NICU Nurse,  and as a Family Nurse Practitioner since 2006. I have worked in a variety of settings, finding each interesting and rewarding.  I gained a variety of skill sets and perspectives, from working in community clinics for the medically uninsured and underserved,  performing forensic exams for law enforcement agencies, providing primary care in private practice, as well as serving as a faculty member for the University of Florida College of Nursing Nurse Practitioner graduate programs. These settings enriched and informed my approach to my work. â€‹Over those years my clinical interests lead me into advanced training in Obesity Medicine, and I started practicing within the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic at Springhill for UFHealth in Obesity Clinic as well as Sleep Clinic.  My time there was invaluable. It lead me to believe that the modern approach in healthcare that separates the mind and body of a client is a fundamentally flawed and limiting approach.  I decided to pursue another program of graduate study at the University of Cincinnati to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. When I started that program I was offered the opportunity to study psychodynamic therapies along side the University of Florida College of Medicine Residents of Psychiatry. It was a rare and wonderful opportunity. I had been working within the Department of Psychiatry for a number of years as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and my professional development was supported by those outstanding faculty members. The mentoring I received in the early years as a PMHNP was instrumental in my development and I enjoy giving that gift to others, serving as a Supervisor for Psychodynamic Therapy for UF PGY-3 Residents.

My Personal Story

I grew up and spent my early adult life moving throughout the Midwest, Colorado, Florida and Connecticut. I moved to Gainesville, FL in 2003 and I have made this my home, raising my family in a wonderful and unique community. I enjoy a variety of pastimes, but I am particularly happy whenever I can be around the ocean (or any water) and when spending time with family and friends. I am always attempting to  improve  my culinary skills and love learning new things. My home is filled with music, laughter, authenticity and grit. This makes me the most grateful of all. My personal journey has been unexpected at times, but the twists and turns only improved the value of my ticket. It has also lead me to the humble realization that we all have much that we can learn from each other when we truly listen.
